City of Prophetstown Bulky Waste Clean Up 2021

Start Date: May 10th till May 17t h or as soon as there full they will be removed

Locations: There will be 4 dumpsters at the Public Works Building, 233 E. Railroad St.

PLEASE NOTE: ELECTRONIC ITEMS ARE NOW BANNED FROM ILLINIOS LANDFILLS. SO PLEASE DO NOT THROW THEM IN THE DUMPSTERS. YOU CAN GO TO WWW.MORINGDISPOSAL.COM AND LOOK AT THE “E RECYCLING SOLUTIONS” LINK FOR OTHER OPTIONS AVAIBLE TO YOU ON RECYCLING YOUR E WASTE.

Part-time Secretary

Part Time Secretary
The City of Prophetstown is looking to hire a part-time secretary (16-20 hours per week). Clerical and computer skills necessary. Duties include greeting residents, collecting fees, data entry, answering phones, and organizing and maintaining files. The ideal candidate will have strong interpersonal skills, be able to prioritize tasks, and be motivated to work with minimal supervision.  Pay is negotiable and dependent on skills and experience. Must be people-oriented. Willing to train the right person. Pick up applications in City hall hours between 7am and 3:30pm closed 12-12:30 daily for lunch, or print applications from our website at prophetstownil.org, drop of at City Hall or email to ptowncy@thewisp.net. Dead line for applications to be submitted is 3:30 PM on Monday May 17th 2021.

Police Officer Position

The Prophetstown Police Department is currently accepting applications for the position of Police Officer. Applications can be picked up at City Hall Monday-Friday 7am-12pm & 1pm-4pm . They can also be found at our website Prophetstownil.org. We offer a competitive wage and compensatory package. We will also consider lateral transfers. E-WASTE 2021

City of Prophetstown E-Waste Program

Start Date: The City will start accepting E-Waste on April 17th, 2021 from the hours of 9a.m. to 12p.m.

Location: This will take place at the Public Works building at 233 E. Railroad St. There will be a sign on building were items will be taken.

E-WASTE ITEMS WILL ONLY BE ACCEPTED WHEN THERE IS AN ATTENDENT PRESENT SO PLEASE: DON’T JUST DROP OR SET ITEMS OFF BY THE BUILDING WHEN NO ONE IS PRESENT OR THIS SERVICE WILL JUST GO AWAY.

Golf Cart Registration

Golf cart/ recreational off-highway vehicle registration will be held Saturday March 27th, 2021 from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm at the Prophetstown City Garage located on East Railroad St. Please make sure you follow the vehicle safety certification checklist. Thank you!

 FLUSHING WILL BE FROM 7:00a.m. to 3:00p.m. EACH DAY.

REMEMBER, ALL GRASS CLIPPINGS, LEAVES,WEEDS SMALL TWIGS, ECT., MUST BE PLACED IN PAPER BAGS AND PLACED AT THE CURB, IN FRONT OF THE RESIDENCE FOR PICK-UP. WHEN PLACING TREE TRIMMINGS OUT FOR PICK-UP, CUT THEM IN SECTIONS NO LONGER THAN 5 FT AND STACK THEM NEATLY IN AN AREA THAT WE CAN EASILY GET TO WITH OUR LOADER. WE ARE PROVIDING YOU WITH A FREE SERVICE YOUR CO OPERATION WILL HELP US CONSIDERABLY WITH THE PICK-UP OF LANDSCAPE WASTE.

Landscape Waste Pick-up

THE CITY OF PROPHETSTOWN WILL BE  PICKING UP OF LANDSCAPE WASTE STARTING MARCH 25TH, 2021. THE CITY WILL PICK UP ON THE SECOND AND FOURTH THURSDAY OF EVERY MONTH. REMEMBER, ALL GRASS CLIPPINGS, LEAVES,WEEDS, SMALL TWIGS, ECT., MUST BE PLACED IN PAPER BAGS AND PLACED AT THE CURB, IN FRONT OF THE RESIDENCE FOR PICK-UP. IF THESE ITEMS ARE NOT IN PAPER BAGS IT WILL NOT GET PICKED UP.

Consolidated Election

The 2021 Consolidated Election is April 6, 2021. Voting on election day will be open from 6am-7pm at the Prophetstown Park District Gym, 410 Riverside Drive. Early voting is available at the Whiteside County Courthouse in Morrison, and on some days at the Whiteside County Courthouse in Sterling.

On the ballot are mayor, city clerk, city treasurer, aldermen in all three wards, township supervisor, township clerk, township assessor, township highway commissioner, township trustee, school board members and a number of county and regional elections. Download a full specimen ballot here.
